When glorious Orion strides the night —

     Red Betelgeus sat on his shoulder high,

          Bright Rigel at his knee, club raised to strike

     His quarry with its shining potency;

His triple-studded belt blazing his name

     Before the keenest sight can mark his face —

          The evil powers of the dark retire

     To their dim, dismal dens!. No dragon, witch or ghost,

Dæmon or Djinn, dare brave his potent power

     Nor risk detection by his eye. Foremost

          Of mighty hunters is he known; no prey

     Can make escape once he begins the chase.

Innocent souls need feel no slightest fear whilst he

Patrols the heavens in his splendid majesty!.
